Classroom-only instruction has given way to a blended learning approach where content is divided betweeen delivery by in-person trainers and by technology over a distance. This paper discussed the next step, Multi-Purposed Learning, which uses a "create once—deploy many" approach to get five different uses out of the same learning content: initial learning, refresh learning, meeting learning, performance support, and individual coaching. The result is lower costs of employee development, higher engagement of learners, better productivity, less workplace disruption, and higher learner satisfaction.
